Majestic Line Review
We were supposed to have a 10 day cruise around the outer Hebrides. We never made it.
We just chugged up and down a small bit of the coast of Scotland The four person crew included an inexperienced 19 year old engineer who could not even tie up his tender — the RNLI had to rescue us at one point.
There was no steward so we had a manager who lied to us and told us she was doing a back to the floor exercise for the first three days then a temporary steward who did not know the ship. This led to all sorts of problems including no hot drinks at breakfast, cabins not cleaned, no bar service, having to ask for basic things like knives and forks. The beds were so hard we had to sleep on top of the duvet and a number of passengers reported back, hip and shoulder problems from having to lie on such hard beds.
The ship broke down meaning an additional night in port. All in all a very uncomfortable 10 days with extremely poor service and not even getting where we paid to go.
We complained to Majestic Line and got a very poor response. I will never use Majestic Line again. Absolutely awful!

We are sorry that the cruise did not meet your expectations. Although you were due to cruise the Outer Hebrides, the weather dictated otherwise. Passenger comfort and safety are paramount at all times and it was felt that due to high winds, it would be foolhardy to attempt the crossing to the Outer Hebrides. Therefore, the Skipper chose to cruise around Skye and the west coast mainland.
While we appreciate you had a younger engineer who you considered inexperienced, we have full confidence in his abilities. The RNLI was not involved at any time; instead, a friendly fisherman lent a hand, as is commonplace in boating circles.
Your comments regarding the service provided on board were valid and have now been addressed. It is unfortunate that the beds were not to your liking, however, we do provide high-quality Hypnos mattresses which the majority of our guests find extremely comfortable.
We are saddened you regard the correspondence and compensation you received in this instance to be a poor response.
Wishing you well for the future.
