Quirky Cruise News: A Floating Perch for Royal Wedding Watchers in May

Quirky Cruise News: A Floating Perch for Royal Wedding Watchers in May

By Ted Scull.

LE BOAT, the charter yacht firm, can arrange for a two-night stay on one of their vessels at a Thames River marina to be well-positioned as spectators for the May 19th wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Windsor Castle.

With hotel accommodations charging sky-high rates, Le Boat offers a reasonable two-night package for Friday May 18th and Saturday May 19th.

The boats, docked at a marina in Chertsey, also on the Thames, have overnight accommodations ranging from 4 to 10 berths. The renters then sail up the Thames past Windsor Castle and tie up at one of seven reserved moorings just three miles west of Windsor Castle for the two nights. Click on QuirkyCruise.com’s profile of Le Boat for a great overview of how Le Boat operates.

Here are the per person boat prices for the weekend. *Note: These per person prices are based on the total cost of the boat rental divided by the number of passengers it holds (the boats must be rented in full).

  • 2 x Classique Star (sleeps 8+2) from $203 pp
  • Horizon 3 (sleeps 6+2) from $281 pp
  • 2 x Caprice (sleeps 4+2) from $275 pp
  • Tango (sleeps 4+2) from $280 pp
  • Horizon (sleeps 2+2) from $446 pp

Convenient for families, the “8 +2” means that there are beds for 8 plus two bunkies — perfect for kids (and same with the other “+ 2s”). Included in the fares are the reserved moorings in Windsor, Prosecco and nibbles on arrival, and decorations (buntings).
