Prince William Sound UnCruise Adventure

UnCruise loves going deep into wild Alaska, taking small groups of passengers to remote places to kayak, hike and skiff around the shoreline looking for animals and soaking up the natural beauty.

There’s no better way to do it than a week on a Prince William Sound UnCruise adventure, one of the line’s many in-depth small-ship cruise itineraries offered at points on Alaska’s long scenic coastline.

The cozy 36-passenger Safari Explorer cruises round-trip from Whittier and zigzags in and out of the Sound’s bays, narrows, fjords and island clusters.

Here’s the 7-night Prince William Sound UnCruise Itinerary

Day 1 — Depart from Whittier, the gateway to Prince William Sound.

John flew from Denver to Anchorage, and then he and other passengers were transferred by bus between Anchorage and Whittier, just over an hour’s drive.

Day 2 — Icy Bay Glaciers

Safari Explorer anchors in the glacial waterways of Icy Bay, which flow down from the 4,000-foot surrounding peaks. Check out the ChenegaTigertail, and Tiger glaciers.

Day 3 — Captain’s Choice

Always one of the best days of the week, the UnCruise captains know Alaska better than anyone else and you can be sure they’ll take you to a beautiful spot to commune with nature and wildlife, with nary another ship in sight.

Day 4 — Cordova

Enjoy this tiny fishing town that’s only accessible by air or sea; it’s quintessentially Alaska. There are opportunities for a walking tour to see the mouth of the Copper River and also hikes to nearby glaciers and hilltops.

Day 5 — Columbia Glacier

Winding its way 32 miles back through the Chugach Mountains, your captain will find the best route to view the massive C0lumbia glacier.

Day 6 — Unakwik Inlet & Meares Glacier

Wilderness at its wildest, see Arctic terns and bald eagles, and harbor seals resting on icebergs, with the massive Meares Glacier as your backdrop. Unakwik Inlet is the perfect place to dip your paddle in the water for a kayak or to join a skiff tour.
