Paul C Thornton Starts The Joy of Cruising Podcast

Paul C Thornton’s New Podcast Series

by Heidi Sarna

Paul C Thornton is a passionate man.

He’s led a fascinating and full life, enough so to inspire him to write an award-winning memoir a few years back.

Originally from New York and now based in Florida with his family, Paul enjoys writing and he loves sharing stories, whether his own or the backstory of other folks.

In this spirit, since Paul is deeply passionate about cruising, ever since he took his very first one back in 1988 aboard Sovereign of the Seas, he was compelled to write about cruising and dig deeper to discover why others love it as much as he and his family do.

And so it makes sense why Paul has written a trilogy of books about cruise travel, from the perspective of people who cruise for vacation and for their jobs.

The 3 cruise books written by Paul C. Thornton:

The Joy of Cruising

Cruising Interrupted

The Joy of Cruising Again

Paul was drawn to hear how and why writers, chefs, influencers and regular travelers found their way to the oceans and rivers of the world.

And so he embarked on a journey to interview dozens of cruisers to find out more about the course their lives have taken. His quest was simply to answer the question, why do you love cruising? How did you catch the bug?

Paul told me he recently started the The Joy of Cruising Podcast because he loves sharing the stories behind the reasons passionate cruisers are drawn to the high seas and long rivers and sleepy canals of the world as a vacation choice or as a focus of their work.

“Following my books, the podcast is a way for me to continue to share stories about real people cruising, why they love it and how they first started cruising,” Paul told me.

I very much enjoyed being interviewed by Paul for his fourth episode of The Joy of Cruising Podcast.

I asked Paul why he loves cruising so much.

“That’s what my wife and kids want to know! I am an off-the-chart introvert, and the ocean just feels welcoming and ‘gets me,’” Paul explained.

Well, I totally get that. Oceans, rivers and canals do feel very welcoming. The sounds and the sight of water is inherently soothing, embracing and primal.

The Joy of Cruising Podcast Schedule Ahead

Other writers to share their cruise stories on Paul’s podcast include John Roberts (also a contributor to QuirkyCruise!), Dana Freeman, Mr Scott Eddy, Ask Chef Dennis, Dave Monk aka Shipmonk, Emma of Emma Cruises and many others.

Definitely check out the books and new podcast by author Paul C Thornton.
