Atlas Ocean Voyages

COVID-19 UPDATE

Atlas Ocean Voyages entered the world of small-ship cruising in 2021 with the launch of World Navigator, a luxury expedition ship built for only 200 passengers and marketed to “low-key connoisseurs.” Over the following two years the company, which is based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, will float out more sister ships to complete the fleet. World Traveller is also now in service as is the World Voyager.

It’s owned by Portuguese international travel and hospitality company Mystic Invest Holdings, which owns Portugal-based DouroAzul, operating riverboats along the Douro River, and Germany-based Nicko Cruises, with riverboats across 12 rivers on three continents. The company also owns myriad other travel industry assets. Atlas Ocean Voyages was previously known as Mystic Cruises.

After its debut, World Navigator will sail itineraries in the Mediterranean. Uniquely, the ship employs hydrojet technology, which was developed for naval warships to diminish vibrations, minimizing underwater noise. This allows World Navigator to propel itself without disturbing wildlife.

World Navigator began with 10 itineraries, from 7 to 24 nights throughout the Holy Land, Eastern and Western Mediterranean in the summer of 2021, followed by 9- to 13-night itineraries in the Caribbean, South America and Antarctica in winter. World Traveller will also begin service in the Mediterranean. The Black Sea cruises will not operate given the war between Russia and Ukraine. World Voyager will also aim for Antartica including participating in Fly & Sail the Drake Passage.

Why Go?

While Atlas Ocean Voyages may be the new line in town, it’s owned and operated by seasoned travel industry veterans. These sister ships will be some of the newest, technologically-advanced and most luxurious.

When to Go?

Itineraries focus on the Mediterranean in the summer months. In the autumn, World Navigator sails for the Caribbean, heading south to Antarctica via South America while the Southern Hemisphere enjoys favorable cruising weather.
