American Queen Steamboat Company Adds Autumn 2018 Departures

By Ted Scull.

The American Queen Steamboat Company, operating cruises on the Mississippi River and tributaries and on the Pacific Northwest’s Columbia and Snake rivers, will add three additional five-day departures to its 2018 season aboard the American Empress, departing from a landing opposite Portland, Oregon.

One-off special occasions will be added to the traditional themes — in the footsteps of explorers Lewis and Clark, panoramic colors of autumn, history of the indigenous people, varied wildlife and the impressive workings of the Bonneville Dam.

The November 4th voyage will include an evening of classical and modern music performed by the Columbia River Symphony at the historic Liberty Theatre in Astoria, Oregon. Also featured on this sailing will be a colorful night of music, dancing, and fun amidst one of the largest collections of neon storefront signs in the world at the National Neon Museum in The Dalles, Oregon (Nov. 28th and Dec. 2nd).

Fares aboard these American Empress fall round trips start at $599 per person. All journeys include a one-night pre-voyage hotel stay, shore tours in all ports, and complimentary wine and beer with dinner.

American Queen Steamboat Company’s U.S. flagged American Queen, the largest, most opulent riverboat in the world, was joined in April 2014 by the American Empress in the Pacific Northwest and the American Duchess for Mississippi itineraries in August 2017.
